WORKSHOPS

 

Our workshops are named after the five windmills situated on Angla Windmill Hill.

The workshops last for around 1.5 hours.

Prices: Adults – €10

           Children – €7

 

Excursions around the centre with an overview of the history of the windmills take place according to a timetable and last for around 40 minutes.

 

 

 

·   VILIDU FELT WORKSHOP

We will give you an overview of the ways in which felt items are made and what felt can be used for. Under the watchful eye of our felt master you can make your own felt accessories and souvenirs to mark any occasion – Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mothers Day, Christmas and more. You can even try felting the Angla Windmill Hill logo if you like!

We use felting wool as our basic material. Children can try creating a picture using the wet felting technique.

·       VIITA WOOL WORKSHOP

Guided by our master wool crafter, you will become privy to ancient woolly wisdom and learn how wool used to be spun in the olden days! We use genuine lamb’s wool straight from the local countryside.

You will find out about the spinning traditions in local folk culture, as well as how wool is combed, special spinning techniques and more.

At the workshop you can knit your own part of the ever-expanding Angla carpet, recording your visit and writing it into our cultural heritage!

·       LAUSE STONE WORKSHOP

 

Stonework:

You will find out where dolomite comes from, what it is used for and what makes the local dolomite unique. Guided by our stone master, you will learn simple methods of engraving. You can produce images of the windmills, something related to your family, symbols and more.

 

Group size:  15–20 people                           Ages: 10–100

 

·       ANGLA WOOD WORKSHOP

 

You will hear all about the history of woodwork and the ways in which the wood itself is worked. Under the watchful eye of our master craftsman you can make something from local Saaremaa juniper, renowned for its lovely scent, as a souvenir of your visit to Angla Windmill Hill.
